70 Days Without Answers: The Unanswered Questions Surrounding Trooper Enrique Delgado-Garcia's Death

It's been 70 days since Trooper Enrique Delgado-Garcia was pronounced dead at UMass Worcester following what has been described as a "medical crisis" during a boxing training exercise at the Massachusetts State Police Academy. According to his family, some of the severe injuries he sustained included a broken neck, shattered teeth, a broken ankle, and a fractured nose. Having watched countless MMA and boxing matches throughout my life, I’ve never seen a fight result in such devastating injuries.

I had the privilege of meeting and speaking with the Delgado-Garcia family, and the photos of Enrique’s injuries do not align with the description of a “medical crisis.” Despite my best efforts to reach out to Enrique’s former friends and colleagues, no one will speak out. To this day, there is still no medical report. I’ve submitted numerous FOIA requests, only to be denied. Even Special Investigator David Meier has stopped returning my calls.

The Delgado-Garcia family is grieving, and I’ve seen the pain in their eyes firsthand. They, along with the people of Massachusetts, deserve answers. Therefore, I’m calling on Governor Maura Healey, Attorney General Andrea Campbell, and newly appointed Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble of the Massachusetts State Police to provide a public update and statement regarding the death of Trooper Enrique Delgado-Garcia. You hold positions of authority, and it's time to be transparent. We deserve answers.
