The Case Against MSP Sgt. Jennifer Penton Just Got More Serious

Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Jennifer Penton is accused of lying under oath before a statewide grand jury about what she knew, and what role she played as a supervisor in relation to Enrique Delgado-Garcia. She is now facing a perjury charge tied to Delgado-Garcia’s death.

MSP Sgt. Jennifer Penton stood stone-faced outside Worcester Superior Court last week while her lawyer spoke after she faced a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Trooper Enrique Delgado-Garcia.

And this is no minor allegation.

In Massachusetts, perjury is a serious felony. If it happens in a capital case, the penalty can be as severe as life in prison. In other cases, it can carry up to 20 years in state prison, or up to 2.5 years in jail, along with a fine of up to $1,000. Below is what the charging document says about her

She was already arraigned last week on one count of involuntary manslaughter.

She is scheduled to be arraigned this Wednesday, April 15, on the perjury charge in Woburn Superior Court.
