I was going through some files this evening and came across these unreleased photos from Karen Read’s first arrest on February 1, 2022. You can also watch the full intake arrest video below.

Background: The Karen Read trails sparked one of Massachusetts’ most high-profile criminal cases in history. On January 29, 2022, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe was found outside a fellow officer’s Canton home after attending a late-night gathering. His girlfriend, Karen Read, was accused of backing into him with her SUV, but her defense argued he was killed inside the house and that authorities framed her to protect others. Initially charged with manslaughter, Read’s case escalated to second-degree murder before going to trial. Her first trial ended in a mistrial in July 2024. In April 2025, a second trial concluded with Read being acquitted of all major charges but convicted of operating under the influence, resulting in probation.
